Designing an infill house deriving its existence from its courtyards is challenging in the old neighborhood of Jolfa in Isfahan, in the closest proximity to the Jolfa square and historical churches where the old porous residential texture has been replaced by small parcels with new construction regulations.
The placement of the project site in the Jolfa historical area has restricted the house's height. The house ended up sinking into the ground so that a hollow, sun-bathed, and cool garden could bring together the internal spaces. The southern breeze is cooled down in the shade of the garden pit and finds its way out from the backyards by moving through the interior spaces.
