The demolition and replacement of low-rise houses with high-rise residential complexes are changing the cross-section of streets in large cities day by day, reducing the pedestrian’s view quality, skyline, and urban space.
The 40 percent yardage in “infill” projects does not have a precise definition, especially in the southern plots or “under construction” ones , where it is separated and disconnected from the street and internal spaces.
In the “Sarraf ha” project, the consolidation of common spaces and public services in a residential complex and connecting it to the northern body of the building creates a closed-open space that not only widens the alley section but also redefines the entrance story with the definition of a green trench.
This project is a critique of architecture “sitting on the ground” in urban infill projects.
